The art of space is a hidden one; Done correctly, the arrangement of furniture and walls creates efficient flows or entice people to linger and rest. Much like my textile work, my curatorial and interpretive work is an invisible but essential part of creating a comfortable and accessible space. When you work with textiles you learn quickly how much the smallest details matter, a wrong stitch can ruin hours of work and yards of material; Even worse, a mistake in language or display can cause personal distress and even international conflict. I am fascinated by the careful balance between the truth and tact that museums must take, as shared spaces they must be able to accommodate and maintain an inclusive atmosphere and I participate in the cultivation of those atmospheres through a combination of curatorial, interpretive, and cultural knowledge.
